Outdoor concrete takes a beating. Freeze-thaw cycles, moisture pushing up from the ground, UV exposure - bare concrete just wasn't designed to hold up to all of that on its own. That's where a proper coating system makes a real difference.

For this park bench pad, we started by applying a moisture vapor barrier before anything else went down. That step matters more than most people realize. Without it, moisture moving up through the slab can cause the coating to bubble and fail - sometimes within the first season. We don't skip that step.

From there, we applied our flake floor system in Stony Creek - a clean, cool-toned blend that looks sharp against the dark metal bench and the surrounding green space. The broadcast flake also adds texture to the surface, which is exactly what you want underfoot on an outdoor slab where things can get wet.

Everything got finished with a polyaspartic topcoat. Polyaspartic is tougher than standard epoxy and handles UV exposure without yellowing or breaking down over time. It bonds hard and fast, and it's built to stay looking good through whatever Iowa weather throws at it.

The difference between the bare concrete slab and the finished surface tells the whole story. This pad went from plain and porous to a clean, protected surface that's ready to hold up for years. That's what a full system - barrier, flake, and topcoat - actually gets you.
