Front porches take a beating. Rain, UV exposure, foot traffic, temperature swings - bare concrete just isn't built to handle all of that long-term. It fades, cracks, and starts looking rough. This entry is a perfect example of what a proper coating system can do for a space that most people walk right past without thinking twice about.
We went with our Nightfall flake system on this one. It covers the full porch deck and wraps right down the steps - top, face, and all. That consistent coverage is something that separates a quality install from a rushed one. Every surface you step on or look at gets the same treatment.
Here's what's under that finish that makes it worth doing right. We started with a moisture vapor barrier, which is a step a lot of installers skip. Moisture pushing up through concrete is one of the main reasons coatings fail early - it causes bubbling, peeling, and adhesion problems down the road. Blocking that at the slab level is non-negotiable for us. From there, we laid down a polyaspartic base coat, broadcast the Nightfall flakes into it, then finished with a polyaspartic topcoat to lock everything in.
Polyaspartic is a big deal for exterior surfaces. It's UV stable, so it won't yellow or fade in the sun. It's also extremely hard and abrasion-resistant, which means it holds up under daily foot traffic without wearing down like paint or basic epoxy. That combination of durability and curb appeal is exactly what a front entry needs.
The end result is a porch that looks sharp from the street and is genuinely built to last. No peeling, no staining, easy to clean - and it changed the whole look of the front of the home. That's what a flake floor system done properly actually looks like.
