Pool facilities are brutal on floors. You've got constant moisture, heavy foot traffic, wet shoes tracking in and out all day, and drains that need to stay clear. Most flooring options just aren't built for that combination. That's exactly why we went with a Domino flake system for the Strawberry Point municipal pool - it's one of those jobs where the system really has to earn its keep.

We started with a moisture vapor barrier before anything else went down. That's not a step you skip in a space like this. Concrete near pools is almost always dealing with moisture from below, and if you don't address that first, you're setting the floor up to fail down the road. With that foundation in place, we applied a polyaspartic base coat, broadcast the Domino flake blend into it, and finished with a polyaspartic top coat to seal everything in tight.

The result runs throughout the entire facility - entry areas, locker rooms, shower stalls, restrooms, and the main pool access corridor. Every room got the same system, which means the whole building has a consistent, clean look and the same level of protection no matter where the foot traffic hits hardest. Polyaspartic top coats are also much easier to clean than bare concrete or older coatings, which matters a lot when a facility staff is hosing things down daily.

This kind of work is something we genuinely enjoy doing. Municipal facilities serve a lot of people, and getting their floors right means those spaces hold up season after season without constant maintenance headaches. That's a real win for the community - and it's the kind of floor that looks sharp on day one and still looks sharp years later.
