This one had some real issues going on before we touched it. The concrete was cracked pretty heavily across the entire slab, and there were clear signs of moisture working its way up through the floor. Not exactly a great starting point - but honestly, this is the kind of job where doing it right from the ground up makes all the difference.

Before any coating goes down, the concrete has to be properly prepped. We ground the whole slab to open up the surface and get solid adhesion. The cracks were filled and addressed as part of that process. Then we applied a moisture vapor barrier - this is a step a lot of guys skip, and it's a big deal. Without it, moisture pushing up through the slab can cause coatings to bubble, peel, and fail early. We don't cut corners there.

Once the prep work was done, we installed a full flake floor system using 1/4" Domino flake. This is one of our most popular color options - the black, white, and grey blend is sharp-looking and does a great job hiding everyday dirt and wear. The flakes broadcast into the base coat and get locked in under a clear topcoat, giving you a floor that's tough, easy to clean, and actually looks good doing it.

The finished floor on this 1-stall garage is a night-and-day difference from where we started. No more cracked, stained, bare concrete. What you get instead is a sealed, protected surface that can handle vehicles, foot traffic, spills - whatever gets thrown at it. That's what a proper decorative concrete floor coating does when it's installed correctly.

Moisture issues and cracked slabs are more common than people think, especially in older garages. The good news is they don't have to stop you from getting a quality floor. The right prep work and the right system take care of it. That's exactly what Iowa Decorative Concrete brings to every job.
