




Most garage floors just sit there - bare concrete that stains, dusts, and looks rough no matter how clean the rest of the space is. This 2-stall garage was a solid candidate for something better. Here's how we approached it.
Before any coating goes down, the prep work has to be right. We brought in our shot blaster to open up the concrete surface, giving the epoxy base coat a solid profile to bond to. Skip that step and even the best materials will fail eventually. We don't skip it.
From there, we applied an epoxy base coat, broadcast a full flake blend wall to wall, then locked everything in with a polyaspartic topcoat. We also added a polypropylene traction additive - that's what gives the finished surface a subtle, textured grip underfoot. It's not slick. It's not gritty. It's just right for a space that sees foot traffic, vehicles, and whatever else gets dragged in from outside.
The flake blend on this one is a charcoal and grey mix that looks clean in any lighting. That close-up shot of the fresh topcoat shows just how much depth the flakes give the surface - it catches light in a way plain concrete never will. And once that polyaspartic cures, cleanup is genuinely easy. Spills wipe up. Oil doesn't soak in. Dust doesn't collect the same way it does on raw concrete.
A flake floor system like this is one of the most practical upgrades you can make to a garage. It holds up under daily use, it looks sharp, and it protects the concrete underneath for the long haul. That combination is hard to beat.
